A current nationwide Bayleys Scholarship Recipient…

I am rejoining the industry after four years absence and am thrilled to be working for Neale Parkinson and his team at the New Plymouth office! There were over 400 applicants nationwide applying for unique employment opportunities with Bayleys around the country. I was fortunate to be selected from 21 applicants in the Taranaki Region.

Real Estate Background…

Ten years ago I began selling real estate in Whangamata on the Coromandel Peninsula and for five and a half years I matched people to property, selling innumerable properties, building a solid reputation and repeat business profile.

My sales ranged from the smallest sections up to a 1.9m sale.

In the 1st Quarter for 2004 I was the Ray White Group’s Central North Island Number 1 Salesperson for number of sales and at the same time Number 2 Salesperson based on commission.

My Principal at the time was respectively Number 2 and Number 1.

I did not aim for awards, rather, I did the business because the business was there.

These were busy times!

Other Stuff…

I grew up in Taranaki, just east of Stratford, on a sheep and dry stock farm near Toko where my mother still lives. I now live in Oakura.

For much of my earlier adult life I concentrated on music, studying in Wellington and Sydney obtaining a Bachelor of Music (Honours) and a Post Graduate Diploma. I still enjoy playing the piano when I can take the opportunity but prefer to keep music for personal pleasure. I was very involved in the New Plymouth Operatic Society’s 2009 production of Miss Saigon and I currently play with the New Plymouth Orchestra when required.

I lived in Whangamata for 10 years before moving to New Plymouth 2 years ago.

In Whangamata I spent 2 years commercial fishing with family which took me (and my cat!) on many great ‘adventures’ to various NZ ports including Whitianga, Gt Barrier Is, Leigh, Manganui, Onehunga, Raglan, New Plymouth, Westport and Nelson.

I then joined the Real Estate Industry where work quickly boomed for me and I bought a commercial ‘home and self-storage’ property in Whangamata. I run this business remotely.

For the past 4 years I ‘floated’ in various directions not least of which was 8 months playing piano on large Princess Cruise Ships in the Caribbean and NZ/Australia.

Eventually I landed, quite unintentionally, back in Taranaki!
